Castle Bromwich
The Castle Bromwich facility was from its conception an ambitious undertaking. Located within sight of a major customer the contaminated brown-field site was a bleak prospect except for the brave hearted.
Stadco had the vision to realise its potential and got their in-house facility and manufacturing engineers to work on a project of gigantic scale. The aim was to create the largest press facility outside a European OEM.
The facility concept was developed against the customer demand for producing the large class 'A' panels for Land Rover Discovery 3 and Range Rover Sport. It was designed to supply large aluminium or steel body stampings of the highest quality.
The press line was further calculated not only to provide parts as large as car bodyside panels, but also to be compatible with press lines within other UK OEM facilities, allowing for dies to run without the requirement for major modification.
The Castle Bromwich facility consists of a large fully automated G1 tandem press line area with supporting storage and administration areas.
Stadco's engineers created an ingenious automation process that would automatically allow scrap removal and special equipment for cleaning and oiling the sheet steel blanks required for class 'A' panel manufacture.
Stadco engineers designed and project managed the site from brown field to state-of-the-art press plant in less than 2 years.
